The study will start in early June 2026. Here's how it will work:

  1. At the start of the study, you'll be asked to answer a few onboarding questions.
  2. Each day of the study, you'll receive a text asking what meat you ate that day.
  3. At the end of the study, you'll be asked to answer a few questions about your experience.
What will the impact of my participation be?

Eating a plant-based diet can result in significant health benefits, such as reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. In addition, plant-based diets can reduce environmental impact (land use, water use, greenhouse gas emissions) by up to 70%.

By participating in the study, you will help the world understand how people transition to eating less meat. We will open-source the data from this study so that researchers can analyze it and develop recommendations to help people eat less meat. We will share these recommendations with the general public and with future members of the Alliance.

Who can participate?

Anyone who is not vegan. SMS check-ins are currently US-only; participants outside the US can sign up with email.

What if I'm already vegetarian or pescatarian?

If you're vegetarian, you can reduce your dairy and egg consumption. If you're pescatarian, you can reduce your fish consumption.
